Payless Cyprus - Car Policy Verbiage

Renter must be 23 years of age with a valid driver’s license and a major credit card in his/her own name.  Renters 21 through 23 years of age without a a full 3 years driving license, can only rent by paying an additional €10.00 per day surcharge.  Underage surcharge will not appear in total pricing on the reservation.

All car groups may be rented one-way based on availability. Unauthorized one-way rentals will be subject to a surcharge.

Vehicles must not be taken out of the island. Vehicles must not be taken across the border to the Northern Part of Cyprus.

Location must be notified at time of rental when driving out of the originating state. Failure to notify location may result in additional penalties.

Rental is based on a 24-hour period.  The customer receives a 29-minute grace period.  If he/she keeps the vehicle after this time, an hourly rate will apply from minute one.

It is the policy of Payless to have the confirmed vehicle available up to the arrival of the flight mentioned with your booking; if no flight is mentioned, we shall hold during normal business hours the car for one (1) hour, for the calendar day and time of the scheduled arrival.

Payless has initiated an enhanced inspection process to help ensure a pleasant rental experience for all.  Each vehicle will be confirmed “smoke-free” when it is provided to a customer.  Upon its return, it will be inspected.  If it is determined that the vehicle must be cleaned of smoke odor and residue, the renter will be assessed a fee of up to €220.

You are responsible for paying all parking and traffic violations incurred while using the vehicle.  .  If you incur a violation during the rental our agent will process and bill you for fines associated with the violations. In addition to any violation fees you will also be charged a service charge, payable to the third party, of €42.00 per violation.  These items will be billed directly to the Credit Card you used for the rental transaction.  Charges will appear as a separate line item on your credit card or bank statement.

PAE provides accident, medical, death and dismemberment benefits for bodily injury resulting from an auto accident. PAE also provides benefits from loss or damage to certain personal property while in the rented vehicle. See brochure at location for further details. 

Prohibited Use of the Car & Voiding of Optional Services.

Certain uses of the car and other things you or a driver may do, or fail to do, will violate this agreement. A VIOLATION OF THIS PARAGRAPH, WHICH INCLUDES USE OF THE CAR BY AN UNAUTHORIZED DRIVER, WILL AUTOMATICALLY TERMINATE YOUR RENTAL, IS AN EXCLUSION TO AND VOIDS ALL LIABILITY PROTECTION AND ANY OPTIONAL SERVICES THAT YOU HAVE ACCEPTED, INCLUDING ADDITIONAL LIABILITY INSURANCE, PERSONAL ACCIDENT INSURANCE, PERSONAL EFFECTS PROTECTION,

ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM AND COLLISION DAMAGE WAIVER OR PARTIAL COLLISION DAMAGE WAIVER. IT ALSO MAKES YOU LIABLE TO US FOR ALL THE PENALTIES, FINES, FORFEITURES, LIENS AND RECOVERY AND STORAGE COSTS, INCLUDING ALL RELATED LEGAL EXPENSES, FEES AND COSTS.                                                       

It is a violation of this paragraph if:                              

A. You use or permit the car to be used: 1) by anyone other than an authorized driver, as defined in paragraph 18; 2) to carry passengers or property for hire; 3) to tow or push anything; 4) to

be operated in a test, race or contest or on unpaved roads; 5) while the driver is under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance; 6) for conduct that could properly be charged as a

felony or misdemeanor, including the transportation of a controlled substance or contraband; 7) recklessly or while overloaded;

or

B. You or an additional driver, authorized or not: 1) fail to promptly

report any damage to or loss of the car when it occurs or when you learn of it and provide us with a written accident/incident report or fail to cooperate fully with our investigation; 2) obtained the

car through fraud or misrepresentation; 3) leave the car and fail to remove the keys or close and lock all doors, close all windows and the trunk and the car is stolen or vandalized; 4) intentionally

or with willful disregard cause or allow damage to the car, or 5) return the car after hours and the car is damaged, stolen or vandalized.                                                            

C. Driving or operating this car while using a hand-held wireless communication device or other device that is capable of receiving or transmitting telephonic communications, electronic data, mail

or text messages shall be deemed a breach of this contract.
